¡Buenas tardes a todos! Algunos de ustedes quizas recibieron mi correo electrónico el viernes, algunos de ustedes puede haber oído Fr. David hablar de esto el sábado. .....no puede enfatizar cuán URGENTE y necesario que este asunto es. ¡Hay una legislación que estan tratando de pasar que se CONCENTRA EN ATACAR a la IGLESIA CATOLICA, su parroquia, mi parroquia, y NUESTRA CASA de CC HOUSE!!! ¿Cómo? ¡Si esta legislación pasa, nuestra Diócesis, que ya está en una situación financiera difícil , quebrará. .. y esto significa que nosotros perderiamos un tesoro de nosotros, CC House (Piensalo. .. siempre hemos hablado del lugar donde esta CC HOUSE, donde construyen condominios, y donde viven la gente con bastantes recursos!)! . Hay una posibilidad grande que más iglesias tendrán que cerrar, y la asistencia médica y servicios sociales que nuestra Iglesia Católica proporciona en nuestra diócesis también recibirá consecuencias drásticas . JORNADISTAS, nosotros le llamamos a contestar la LLAMADA para protestar esta legislación con su presencia el 18 de marzo. Habrá autobuses que salen a Albany en volver 7AM aproximadamente a las 7 de la tarde. Sé que será un sacrificio para muchos, faltando al trabajo, y la escuela. Tendremos notas de excusa para los que podrán asistir. La Diócesis cuenta con nosotros, para ponernos en acción. ¡Somos llamados a ser testigos y TOMAR MEDIDAS CONTRA LA INJUSTICIA!!! David talk about this on Saturday....I cannot stress enough how URGENT and necessary addressing this matter is. There is a legislation that is trying to be passed, that is TARGETTING the CATHOLIC CHURCH, your parish, my parish, your J brother and J sisters parish, and OUR CC HOUSE!!! How? If this legislation passes, our Diocese, that is in a difficult financial situation already, will go bankrupt...meaning we will lose a place , so near and dear to our heart CC House if this passes (Think about it...we have always talked about what great real estate CC House is!!) . There is a high possibility that more churches will have to close, and that all the health care and social services that our Catholic Church provides in our diocese will also receive drastic and disastrous hits. As a JORNADISTA, we are calling you to answer the CALL to protest this legislation with your presence on MARCH 18. There will be buses leaving to Albany at 7AM returning approximately at 7PM. I know it will be a sacrifice for many, missing work, and school. Excuse notes will be provided for those who will be able to attend. The Diocese is counting on us, to move into action. Download the Statute of Limitations Impact here Assemblywoman Marge Markey, who is a Catholic, is sponsoring a bill A. 2596 that will repeal the statute of limitations for cases of sexual abuse of minors for the space of a year and within that year all those raising accusations can file a monetary claim in civil court for remuneration. The only thing is that the way this bill is written now, it targets the Roman Catholic Church almost exclusively because it includes non-for-profit and private institution only. All public and civil institutions are exempt in this bill. This bill is being pushed by greedy trial lawyers who will stand to make billions of dollars off of the blood, sweat and tears and efforts of all those who have gone before us and did what they could to build the Church in our Diocese and state. The Diocese, which is already in MAJOR financial difficulty will be forced to CLOSE churches and SELL property in order to cope. Ask yourself: How much does your parish church mean to you?!?! How much does CC house mean to you?!?!?! If your response is 'nothing', than by all means stay at home on Wednesday March 18. But if everything that we have put into CC house these past forty years does mean something to you, if the thought of all OUR blood, sweat, tears and efforts being dissolved to line the pockets of greedy men and women enrages you (as it should) than join us on March 18 as we organize ourselves to go up to Albany and make our voices heard to our elected officials.
